Streptanthus farnsworthianus -California Jewel Flower

$4.00

Annual
I can’t say enough about this flower, it is extraordinary!
Leaves are delicate, almost carrot like, especially when they first emerge
Mid summer, bracts begin to come out in pale green that age to METALLIC PURPLE.
Yes, that’s right. Metallic. Shiny. Purple. ZOMG.
Flowers are bell shaped and cream coloured
Attractive to pollinators
This needs excellent drainage, so good for rock gardens, slopes and sandy soil
Doesn’t need much water BUT it will bloom longer and look much lush if you give it regular water.
24” tall and 12” wide per plant. Doesn’t take much to fill a space.
Seed pods are long thin beans.
Pair with ornamental grasses, California poppies, or Hens and Chicks

Sow indoors under glass in late Feb/March. Plant out after frost.
Easy to grow from seed.
