Disturb the soil, sow in situ either late Autumn or early spring
Seeds are frost tolerant, but don’t do well being sown indoors
They need very little if any water
Short lived, but prolific flowers if they get moisture and some decent soil.
Self Seeds, especially in optimal conditions.
Cut back when they look tatty, they’ll put out another flush, or even two.
Deer don’t eat them.
